Te Uku Pony Club held their end of season prizegiving and AGM at Wally and Avril Hawken’s home on Friday 13 May.

It was well attended with riders being presented with their Pony Club certificates from D level through to C+ level. They were also presented with achievement cards for representing Hamilton Pony Club at Waikato Area competitions and also representing Waikato Area at National level competitions.

Portia Mathews and Ayla Bensemen, our two senior riders represented Waikato Area at the Horse of the Year show Inter-Pony Club Showjumping competition. A huge achievement.

We have had a very busy season with three camps; outside specialist instructors, horse mastership evenings and treks.

We also hosted at our grounds on Okete Road a Hamilton Pony Club instruction camp with Peter Barke, a national Pony Club instructor. Our age levels range from 4 years to 18 years.

Certificates this season were: Estelle Laboyrie C+; Lena and Brianna Hayes C, Jahzara Waitere D+; Jasmine Berejoni, Jayla Waitere and Georgia Benseman all gained their D certificates.

Jasmine Berejoni was awarded our Points Trophy for best turnout at each rally throughout the season. Jasmine also won the Junior Dressage and Showjumping cups, and Brianna Hayes won the Senior Dressage and Showjumping cups.

We are looking forward to the new season which will start with an uncounted rally on the 11 September at our grounds at 10am. Te Uku Pony Club has been in existence since the 1950s with a period of recess for a number of years and was restarted on the present grounds about 36 years ago.
