Perched high above Raglan on Upper Wainui Road and nestled within bush and mountain Four Elements Retreat offers the kind of views you imagine only exist on postcards. Each window of this majestic property offers a different and no less scenic vista.
Arriving in early evening we were spoilt for vantage points — lounge on the sunny deck or take a pew in the aptly named ‘Love View’ sitting room. In the end we opted for a short walk through the bush to the stream which flows along the bottom of the property. It’s a peaceful, soothing spot and if you’re feeling energetic you can keep going all the way to the beach.
As well as incredible views Four Elements also offers plenty of space. There are four bedrooms each with their own bathroom and two living spaces making it the perfect house to rent for a large family gathering or group of friends. Just be sure to stake your claim early for the spacious master suite with it’s three walls of windows. A super comfy bed with quality linen guarantees a luxurious sleeping experience and if you open the drapes before you drift off you’ll wake to see the ocean spread before you. The suite also offers a huge master wardrobe, well-appointed bathroom and private access to the outside deck.
If you feel in need of some pampering the house boasts a spa room and hot tub and friendly host Jerry can book massages on request. A well-equipped kitchen makes dining-in an easy experience and the house offers all the usual entertainment facilities including TV, DVD and broadband. Not that you will be tempted to use them — the scene outside the windows rivals anything you could find on the television.
