It’s in the Bag, the classic Kiwi TV show returns on 7th April. And the show will be making a stop in Raglan on Thursday 29 April. If you’ve ever fancied giving this popular gameshow a shot this could be your chance.

It’s In The Bag started in the 1950s as a Radio New Zealand game show, hosted by Selwyn Toogood.

In the 1970s it was developed into a popular television series hosted again by Toogood, then later John Hawkesby and Nick Tansley.
Classic phrases such as “By hokey!” and also, “The money or the bag?” slowly but surely entered into the New Zealand vernacular.
Last year Maori Television began a new revival of the show, hosted by Pio Terei and Stacey Morrison. The core format of the show remains the same with contestants answering questions to get a chance to play, usually on topics that rely on local area knowledge. Once through, players must walk the fine line between netting the cash on offer, and taking a chance on the mystery prize contained in their selected bag. Those who take part in the show run the risk of being sent home with an imaginative booby prize.
At the other end of the spectrum, some lucky winners may get to take home a new TV or take an exotic holiday.
