Go By Bike Day

Leave the car at home tomorrow and jump on your bike for Go By Bike Day. Thousands of Kiwis all around the country will be utilising pedal power and Go By Bike Breakfasts will be held in more than 50 New Zealand locations.

Go By Bike Day is part of Bike Wise Month, funded by the NZ Transport Agency and the Ministry of Health, which aims to encourage more New Zealanders to have a go at riding a bike as a fun and healthy way of getting around.

In addition to Go By Bike Day, celebratory events during Bike Wise Month in February include local Mayoral Challenges, involving residents pedalling behind their mayor on an organised ride around their city or town. There’s also the Bike Wise Challenge, a fun, free, online competition which encourages companies and organisations of a similar size to compete against each other in each region to see who can get the highest percentage of members/staff in the saddle.
