Kiwi Surfers in Hawaii as Season Winds Down

Following there last event at the Kangaroo Island Pro in South Australia, surfers Richard Christie and Billy Stairmand head to the Hawaiian island of Oahu – the holy grail of professional surfing – to compete in events held during the “39-Days of the Vans Triple-Crown of Surfing.”

Local boy Billy comes off the back of a fifth placing at the ASP six-star rated Fantastic Noodles Kangaroo Island Pro, the highest placement he has achieved during this year’s world tour. Billy was defeated by fellow kiwi and travel-buddy Jay Quinn, who placed second overall at the event.

Quinn, Christie and Stairmand all have guaranteed starts in the $250,000 World Cup event to be surfed at Hawaii’s famous Sunset Beach from November 25.

Christie and Stairmand are also set to contest the Reef Hawaiian Pro event which starts at Haleiwa on Saturday.
