A massive weekend coming up at The Yot Club as befitting the start of summer, with The Julian Temple Band returning on Friday, a mini rock festival on Saturday and the return of the summer Sunday Sessions.
The Julian Temple Band are Raglan favourites, and return to NZ after playing over 200 shows in the States promoting their last album. This alt-blues band has been garnering huge attention overseas and this could be your last chance to catch them in such an intimate venue.
Saturday brings Yot on the Rocks: 7 bands over 7 hours, featuring, Luger Boa, The King Brothers (Japan) The DHDFD’s, The Dirty Sweets, Thee Rum Coves, The Illicit Wah Wahz and Goldschool.
Luger Boa have earned themselves a reputation as one of the countries best and fiercest rock acts. Spearheaded by ex D4 frontman Jimmy Christmas Luger Boa have released two albums Mutate or Die and New Hot Nights, toured extensively though NZ, Japan and Australia to mass acclaim. The King Brothers from Nishinomiya Japan and the DHDFD’s from Pt Chev Auckland have teamed up to conduct a full length summer tour landing in Raglan this Saturday.
Their kinship from the Japanese bands first tour was reciprocated this year with the bands touring Japan and sharing a stage. Now the DHDFD’s have brought back their Japanese brothers for a tour that will showcase the best of both bands with their crazed antics.
Thee RumCoves bring the sound of maximum rock n soul, like a British invasion played through a battered Vox AC 30 in a dirty little club in Santiago. Former D4 members combine to power through a 60s influenced power punk set, promoting their new self-titled album.
The formidable 5-piece, The Dirty Sweets, ripped Raglan a new one back in March and will return to inflict more sonic sensations. Also representing, The Illicit Wah Wahz, is the evolution from legendary Raglan band, The Clap. Hikor, Barney and birthday boy Pic promise a few new songs to go with the stone-cold classics that the locals have heard over the years.
Doors open at 5pm with Gold School kicking things off at 6pm. Happy hour from 5-9pm. Tickets $20 from venue or undertheradar. Numbers will be restricted so get in early will be the best way to enjoy this fantastic day.
