Waste and recycling in Raglan is managed by Xtreme Waste, a non-profit community enterprise which is run in partnership with the local council. A kerbside recycling scheme is actively supported by residents and currently the town diverts 75% of its waste away from landfill. Xtreme Waste also operate a transfer and recycling centre, a pre-paid bag refuse collection, a very popular reuse shop, miniskip hire, business waste transfer and an educational programme for schools, businesses and the community.

Raglan has a prepaid bag system. The bags can be purchased from:

Collection
Monday — Raglan West: From the west side of Wainui Road bridge to Te Tuhi Road (beyond Whale Bay). Also rural properties out to Waitetuna (Old Mountain Road as far as Bush View Drive). Prepaid bags can be left at the Te Uku Rural Recycling container on Sunday night or Monday morning by 8:30am.
Tuesday — Raglan East: From the east side of the Wainui Road bridge out to Greenslade Road. Bags to be out by 8.30am.
Statutory Holidays: There is NO collection on a statutory holiday. The collection is done the next day.
Weekly Recycle Collection: This operates in conjunction with the refuse collection. Bin to be out by 8.30am. There is NO kerbside rural recycle collection east of Greenslade Road. ONLY THE OFFICIAL GREEN BIN WILL BE EMPTIED (additional bins can be purchased from Council’s Raglan Office)
