Only the Raglan Surfing School offers a unique 3 hour comprehensive lesson which begins in the “Surf Classroom” at the Karioi Outdoor Centre in Whale Bay.
Beginners are taken through the fundamentals of surfing, ocean awareness, etiquette, and water safety.
Whether in a group or individual lessons, we cater to each students needs.
Individuals can be taken from riding the white-water to gliding along open faced ground swells in just a few lessons.

BEGINNER SURF LESSON
– 9am-2pm daily, or by prior arrangement.
These lessons are designed for the complete beginner and those wanting to improve their skills. Lessons are held daily throughout the year, 7 days a week. Booking is essential.
Beginner lesson includes:
* 3 hours lesson, with 1 hour classroom and 2hrs in the water.
* This is a group lesson with an instructor/student ratio of
maximum 1 to 8 students depending on conditions.
* Board and full length wetsuit hire.
* Free pick up from Raglan town and beach transportation.
* Free after surf sauna @ Karioi (for afternoon lesson only).

Want to hang out and really put some time and energy into learning to surf, as well as exploring Raglan, meeting other surf inspired individuals & getting great value for money?
If this sounds like you, our surf adventure packages are a great choice for any keen surfer wanting to spend more than a day on learning to surf and progressing to the point of been able to catch unbroken green waves! This is something you’ll be stoked you did, because even though catching the whitewash is fun for a while every surfer remembers their first green wave & it’s usually the incredible buzz from this ride that keeps you surfing forever – consider yourself warned!!!

Experience the ultimate afternoon in Raglan with this surf & cruise combo package! Dare #1 which is our adventurous 3hr beginner surfing lesson followed by Dare #2 which is joining the crew onboard the Whainemoe for a awesome 2hr sunset harbour cruise with gourmet BBQ sub-sandwich included. The package starts with the surf lesson from the Whale Bay surf school base at 2pm. After learning all about surfing techniques and ocean safety get in the water at beautiful Ngarunui beach for a thrilling 2hr surf session. From the beach it’s time to ‘Get on it’ at the Raglan Wharf where you’ll board the Wahinemoe for the 2hr sunset cruise from 6-8pm. Explore the Raglan Harbour, hear all the stories, check out the ancient limestone rock formations. Please bring a towel, hat, sunscreen, swimsuit & something warm for after the lesson and on the boat.
