They say it never rains but it snows — but it was doing both in Raglan early this week as a light dusting of snow arrived on the back end of a polar blast which swept the country. Locals rang the Chronicle on Monday morning to report snow flurries in the most unusual of places, from Earls Place to Greenslade Road, Old Mountain Road and Te Mata. Children at Te Mata School ran outside to enjoy the dusting and the moment was captured on this weeks cover. Te Uku School children watched in amazement as snow fell briefly during the lunch break. Snow settled on Mt Karioi and was visible from Raglan town on Tuesday morning.
