Organisers of the Raglan Volunteer Rescue Services Fundraiser 2014 are urging people to get in quick as the 400 presale tickets are “selling fast.”
Raglan Volunteer Fire Brigade station officer Leanna Darby said the fundraiser would be an opportunity for locals to come together and raise money for the Raglan’s five volunteer emergency services: Raglan Fire Service, Raglan Coastguard, Westpac (chopper) Air Ambulance, St John’s Ambulance & Raglan Surf Life-Saving.
“It’s a chance for the community to give to all services…rather than all of us [volunteer emergency services] individually fundraising.”
She said that local catering company owner Colin Chung, would be providing the food for the fundraiser with $10 mains.
“He’s doing the food for free…any proceeds for the cooking goes to the fundraiser.”
Leanna said that a lot of businesses throughout Raglan have also donated their services for the auctions on the night.
“The community’s got together and given us services to auction off.”
Legendary Raglan Mudsharks guitarist Dave Maybee said the entertainment of the evening was set with the collaboration of the Mudsharks and West Coast Jazz.
“It’s really exciting getting the two groups together and for us to be able to do this,” he said.
This weekend’s fundraiser would be the second fundraiser for the five emergency services with the inaugural event, back in 2012, raising more than $30,000.
Leanna said that tickets to the 2012 fundraiser sold out and encouraged people to get out and buy this year’s presales to avoid disappointment.
“Tickets are selling fast this time and for those who purchase presale tickets, there is the added bonus of spot prizes,” she said.
Spot prizes included $50 BP petrol vouchers and coffee vouchers.
The Raglan Volunteer Rescue Services Fundraiser 2014 will be happening at the Raglan Club this Saturday 18 October. Doors open at 6:00pm.
Tickets can be purchased for $25 by contacting Westpac on 825 0602.
